Description
3 Rivers Eco Lodge is a small award-winning eco lodge set in a lush rainforest valley, surrounded by pristine rivers, in natural and unspoiled eastern Dominica, offering relaxation and a range of nature, adventure, and community activities to suit all. Accommodations range from bamboo tree-houses to dormitory-style hammocks, to traditional jungle cabins. The lodge offers the opportunity to swim in one of its onsite river pools, stay with a local family, and participate in a renewable energy workshop, while appreciating Dominican ecology and culture.
Their Story
3 Rivers Ecolodge uses solar power for much of its electricity, pumping water from the river, and heating hot water, and uses a wind turbine to power its forest accommodations. The lodge composts all kitchen and garden waste, and uses that compost to grow organic food. Grey water at the lodge goes through grease traps to be used in the garden, and campers use dry toilets. Whenever possible, the lodge tries to avoid purchasing packaged goods, shops locally, recycles and uses biodegradable products, and tries to keep its waste products to a minimum.
