Some examples of specific steps Aurora Retreat takes to promote these goals are: elimination of waste through reusing, recycling and reducing consumption of material products, providing guests with healthy food, locally and organically grown whenever possible, and fair-trade for imports like coffee and chocolate, water conservation through a water recycling system, maintaining a dry (compost) toilet system where human waste is recycled into the natural ecosystem, conserving energy and making every effort to increase energy efficiency and use renewable energy sources, maintaining a leave no trace policy in all outdoor activities, utilizing our own energy for transportation as much as possible by walking, skiing or kick-sledging and using small vans or the public bus when necessary to transport visiting groups over longer distances, cooperating with other local companies to provide genuine, small-scale activities and experiences, informing our guests about and encouraging awareness and appreciation for the local environment and culture, and continually evaluating our progress towards sustainability.",",",",",",",",",",",",",","X
